John Tortorella first American-born coach to win 600

The Blue Jackets helped coach John Tortorella make history Thursday.

With Columbus’ 4-3 overtime win over the Predators on home ice, Tortorella became the first United States-born coach to win 600 games in the NHL.

This is Tortorella’s 18th season coaching in the NHL. He has spent time with the Lightning, Rangers, Canucks and Blue Jackets.
