NHL: Jets rally late, beat Caps in OT

Defenseman Tyler Myers scored 3:35 into overtime as the host Winnipeg Jets came back from a two-goal deficit to beat the Washington Capitals 4-3 on Tuesday night.

Mark Scheifele sent a pass back to Myers, who quickly fired the puck past Braden Holtby for his sixth goal of the season.

Scheifele had scored his second goal of the game to tie it 3-3 with 15 seconds left in the third period.

Bryan Little also scored for Winnipeg (33-15-9).

Faulk has rare hat trick • Justin Faulk became the 10th defenseman in NHL history to score a natural hat trick as the host Carolina Hurricanes beat the Los Angeles Kings 7-3.

Kings get Phaneuf • The Los Angeles Kings acquired veteran defenseman Dion Phaneuf from the Ottawa Senators. Phaneuf and forward Nate Thompson go to Los Angeles, which sent forwards Marian Gaborik and Nick Shore to Ottawa.

Elliott out 5-6 weeks • Philadelphia Flyers goalie Brian Elliott had abdominal surgery on Tuesday and will be out 5 to 6 weeks, general manager Ron Hextall said.

Seattle group pays expansion fee • The group looking to bring professional hockey to Seattle has taken the next step in the pursuit of an NHL franchise.

The Oak View Group and its prospective NHL ownership group, led by billionaire David Bonderman and filmmaker Jerry Bruckheimer, submitted its expansion application along with a $10 million filing fee.
