NHL Trade Rumors: Evander Kane Drawing Interest From 8 To 10 Teams

The latest NHL trade rumors, according to Craig Custance, have 8 to 10 teams interested in Buffalo Sabres forward Evander Kane

The NHL trade deadline is on Feb. 26. One of the biggest names on the market is Buffalo Sabres forward Evander Kane. On the season, he has 18 goals and 20 assists for 38 points in 56 games (as of Feb. 13). Moreover, Kane has a goal in each of his last two games. According to the latest NHL trade rumors, a lot of teams are interested in the pending free agent.

Craig Custance of The Athletic is reporting there are at least eight teams interested in the Sabres wing. This isn’t surprising, as there are more buyers in this market than sellers. His price, however, has not fallen. The Sabres have not backed down from their high asking price of him, which stands at a first-round pick, prospect, and lesser prospect or roster player.

Though it’s fair to question Kane’s off the ice incidents, he’d only be a rental for the rest of this season. So while his issues off the ice might keep him from getting a long-term deal, they won’t affect a team wanting to add him for a few months as they hope to win a Stanley Cup.

Kane brings scoring and playmaking to the table. He can generate offense on his own, creating rush chances at a fairly consistent rate. On a really bad Sabres team, Kane has consistently been their best wing and done a lot to help out Jack Eichel.

There’s still time before the deadline, so don’t expect Buffalo to drop their asking price yet. They’re hoping a team like the San Jose Sharks, Nashville Predators, or St. Louis Blues gets desperate enough to give them what they want for him.

Another contender will probably jump into the mix as well. Kane enters the final stretch of the trade deadline as arguably the best forward available, depending on how you think about Rick Nash.
