Gostisbehere leads the Flyers defense in scoring with 32 points (9g-23a) in 39 games, which is also tied for fourth among all NHL defensemen in scoring. His 18 points on the power-play lead all NHL blueliners, while his five power-play goals are tied for the lead among NHL d-men.
Sanheim was paired with Radko Gudas during the team’s morning skate. In other lineup news based off the skate, Brandon Manning will be with Andrew MacDonald while Ivan Provorov is paired with Robert Hagg. Tyrell Goulbourne will be on a line with Scott Laughton and Jori Lehtera.
Brian Elliott will get the call in net, making his 34th start of the season. He has 16 of the Flyers 19 wins on the year with a 16-10-7 mark with a .910 save percentage and 2.74 GAA. Elliott will be going up against Cory Schneider, who is 17-8-6 with a 2.67 GAA and .918 save percentage, but has allowed four goals in each of his last four starts.
Interestingly enough, Elliott and Schneider faced each other in the 2006 National Championship game. Elliott stopped 22 of 23 shots to backstop Wisconsin to a 2-1 win over Cory Schneider and Boston College. Schneider stopped 37 of 39 shots in the loss.
