Spend up for: Mika Zibanejad, NYR ($6,700) — The New York Rangers haven’t had many bright spots this season, but one has been the play of Zibanejad. He leads the Rangers with seven goals and is tied for the lead with 10 points. He had a goal and an assist in a 5-4 loss to the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday (6.5 DraftKings points) and is averaging 4.3 DraftKings points per game. Zibanejad has five goals in nine home games and will face the Vegas Golden Knights with goalie Maxime Lagace likely making his first NHL start.
Value pick: Dylan Larkin, DET ($4,900) — The Detroit Red Wings have one win in their past seven games, but don’t blame Larkin. He has 10 points (one goal, nine assists) in 12 games with 24 SOG. He is averaging 3.0 DraftKings points per game playing under 20 minutes per game (19:18). Larkin will face the Arizona Coyotes, who are coming off their first win of the season but have allowed three or more goals in 11 of 12 games and four or more in nine games, so he should get plenty of chances to crack the scoresheet.
Spend up for: Clayton Keller, ARI ($5,700) — Keller is $1,600 cheaper than the top wing (Patrik Laine of the Winnipeg Jets, $7,300), which ranks fifth in terms of price at the position, but he’s averaging a whopping 5.0 DraftKings points per game, No. 1 among wings in the contest. He leads rookies in goals (eight) and points (13), and is on a six-game point streak (five goals, four assists). Keller has 47 SOG, including at least four in a game eight times, and is a bright spot for the Coyotes. He’s a solid option against the struggling Red Wings.
Value pick: Alex Tuch, VGK ($3,600) — Perhaps the rookie gained some confidence after his second two-point game in the League with a goal and an assist against the New York Islanders on Monday. Although he has one SOG in his past two games combined, Tuch did take seven SOG three games ago, which was good for 3.5 DraftKings points despite no points or blocked shots. He’ll face the Rangers, who have allowed the third-most goals in the first period (18) and haven’t looked great defensively.
Spend up for: Ryan Suter, MIN ($5,100) — Despite Suter’s low point total (six), he is averaging 3.5 DraftKings points per game because of his SOG (19) and blocked shots totals (18). He’s had two multi-point games and at least two blocks in six games. Suter plays the most minutes on the Minnesota Wild (25:55), including more than 3:00 on the power play (3:08) and shorthanded (3:13) per game. He’s a decent pick against the Jets at home.
Value pick: Shea Theodore, VGK ($3,300) — Vegas coach Gerard Gallant said Monday that Theodore likely will make his season debut Tuesday and if that’s the case, he could play on the top power-play unit. Theodore, who was leading the American Hockey League in scoring among defensemen before being recalled, had nine points (two goals, seven assists) in 34 games with the Anaheim Ducks last season and eight points (two goals, six assists) in 14 Stanley Cup Playoff games. At this price, he’s a steal. If for some reason he doesn’t play, teammate Brad Hunt (also priced at $3,300) has seven assists in his past five games.
Top pick: Connor Hellebuyck, WPG ($7,500) — On a three-game, night, picking the best goalie can make all the difference. Hellebuyck is tied for fifth in price among goalies in the contest despite ranking second in points per game (6.1). He’s 5-0-1 with a 2.05 goals-against average and .937 save percentage, and has allowed six goals on 107 shots in three road games. Hellebuyck has made at least 30 saves in four of his past six starts and defeated the Wild, his opponent Tuesday, 4-3 on Oct. 20.
