Canada 2013 Ivan Hlinka Roster – Aaron Ekblad Selected

Aaron Ekblad is one of the top contenders in the 2014 NHL Draft. He was selected by Canada to play at 2013 Memorial of Ivan Hlinka Tournament.

This elite summer under-18 international tournament will be played through August 5th to 10th in different locations including Breclav, Czech Republic, and Piestany, Slovakia.

He played for OHL with Barrie Colts team in the last season and recorded 34 points in 54 games. He appeared in 22 OHL Playoff games and notched 17 points.

Canada has picked 22 players in which 20 players are eligible for the 2014 draft. In which players Ryan Pilon (Lethbridge Hurricanes-WHL), Alexandre Carrier of the (QMJHL) are eligible for the 2015 draft.

Dale Hunter has appointed as the coach for the team and Halifax Mooseheads’ (QMJHL) coach Dominique Ducharme, Oshawa Generals (OHL) coach D.J. Smith will assist Hunter.

Group A Teams– Five times defending champion Canada, Czech Republic, Sweden and Switzerland.

Group B Teams– Finland, Russia, Slovakia and the United States.

Each team will play the other in the group once, teams with higher records will move forward to Semifinals which will be held on August 9th. Battle for the gold- and bronze medals will be held on 10th of August.
