The Tampa Bay Lightning has re-signed defenseman Mark Barberio to one-year, two-way contract. However deal value is not yet disclosed.
Mark Barberio is a sixth round pick (No. 152) of Tampa Bay in 2008 NHL Draft and he played 2 games in the last season but did not scored any point.
He spent most of the season with Lightning’s AHL affiliate, Syracuse Crunch, where he played 73 games and recorded 42 points (8g-34a).
He led the team Crunch to the Calder Cup Finals in 2012-13 with 15 points by posting three goals and 12 assists in 18 games. Also he helped the Norfolk Admirals (Previous Lightning AHL affiliate) to win the 2012 Calder Cup. Barberio was honored with the Eddie Shore award, which will be given to the best defenseman in the AHL.
In the 2012-13 Calder Cup Playoffs, the 6-foot-1, 185-pounder had three goals and 15 points in 18 games, and led all defenseman in postseason points as the Crunch advanced to the Calder Cup Finals.
